1) J listening to a song from _Transformers: The Movie_ and giving me a Nostalgia Attack

2) _Dirty Jobs_ coming back. Mike whines as entertainingly as ever. He also seems focused on praising/promoting US infrastructre and hardworking people more than ever. I was always suprised he went to the Republicans, being as that he does seem to respect people of color and women and so on.

3) I need to see _The Book of Boba Fett_ not least the _Mandalorian_ epilogue bits omg.

Dirty Jobs is a great show. Fiona has randomly fallen in love with it so we've been watching the new episodes.

Mike Rowe is such an endearing and affable guy. He is very humble and very respectful of the worth of the labor he's showcasing.

Also, dude can sing. Fun fact: he got his start as an opera singer purely so he could get SAG membership.

There's an episode where Mike helps clean a water tower. After it's fully emptied, he sings inside it.

I never even thought about cleaning a water tower being a job until my water was turned off one day to have our tank cleaned. It's important.

I totally support Rowe's promoting technical schools and jobs learned via apprenticeships. The rest? No, infrastructure needs more, and Biden's trying.

Considering things that can grow in water, like Legionnaires' disease, it's a potentially life-saving job...

Republicans have the substance-free rhetoric, and it's highly effective for reasons that escape me. And part of that rhetoric is claims that liberals disdain dirty work, which claims have enough public instances that they swamp the space. :/ Speaking as a manure-hauling ditch-digging dish-washing Dem.

Sheeyun and I are enjoying Boba Fett a lot. The first episode is a little slow, but the themes it's built on are such an antidote for the simplicities of the first six movies. (As of course is a lot of Star Was: Clone Wars.)

Sounds like a great conversation. And we-- labour dudes-- have great songs. At Albion College I taught a first-year seminar on Arguments, and one day we sang labour songs. As with satirical cartooning, I tried hard to find righties analogues, but failed.

You could talk to him about professional associations, like the AMA, which operate more to less like unions. I'm thinking you're probably a bit young to remember when the AMA had quite a firm grip on the medical industry and strongly opposed social medicine. I have wondered for a while now, as they've more quietly (or at least with less resonance) asked for socialized medicine instead of governance by insurance companies.

The Book of Boba Fett made me realise I've never seen a show with a Maori main character [edit: a main character played by a Maori actor, I should say. There is Aotearoa in the GFFA afaik]. Hope you enjoy it if you watch it!
