This meant so much to little me growing up.

When I was an English lit major in college, I always found ways to drag sex into any of the papers I wrote. I found evidence in Walt Whitman's poetry of an unexpected heterosexual streak.

And we all used to be stars. "We are stardust, we are golden, we are billion-year-old carbon... and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden!"

Last year at this time, my daughter-in-law's niece turned 11 years old, and I bought her a set of pajamas I saw in Target. On the front of the pajama top was lettered, "We are all made of star-stuff..." and the rest of the top was printed with stars, as were the pants. I never found out whether she liked it.

Then I needed to buy some pajamas for myself. And I happened to find a pair in my fat-lady size that were just printed all over with stars. They don't say anything, but I really like wearing my star-spangled jammies. (And I had a long conversation in the comments of a video by a Viking woman blacksmith -"Fae's Forge". We were talking about forging useful items out of meteoric iron. She pointed out to me that the iron in a meteor is no more magical than the iron in my own blood - they were created the same way.)

OMG I would LOVE star jammies. And I would have adored them when I was 11.

I still remember reading about supernovas and how the elements are formed. It's a place where magic and science ar eone.
