Peter watches Neal bounce down the stairs, pulls his gaze away, pulls out his phone. Elizabeth answers on the third ring and Peter asks, "Hon, do you have a minute?"
"For you, always," she says, her voice warm and sweet and blessedly familiar. "Need me to shut my door?"
"So they don't hear you laughing, if nothing else," he admits, and waits for the distant noise before he says, "It's Neal."
"He's okay, right?"
"He's fine, unfortunately in all senses of the word," Peter sighs, and listens to her inhale, and get it, and her laughter ringing out.
"Oh no," she giggles at length. "He's driving you crazy, huh? Thought you two would've gotten that out of your system last night," she adds, her voice sliding low and hot through his blood.
Peter remembers last night, putting on the speakerphone with one hand and holding Neal down with the other while he wiggled, and feels himself blush like a teenager. "Not helping," he grumbles, and listens to Elizabeth giggle at him some more.
