Okay, it's my turn to be cranky. I am resistant to the idea that Greeks just forgot how to cut and sew (and apparently make blue dye). I've been going around museums collecting images of sleeves constructed separately to the body of dresses.

But I think you'll like this figurine as a counter argument. Sadly, when I backed up my photos, the photos of the case labels didn't always stay in order next to the image they were for. But this is from the National Archaeological Museum in Athens from the section on Vases and Minor Arts.
