Happy Friday

Last night my roommates brought home a traditional Erev Christmas dinner from a nearby Szechuan restaurant, and then today I slept for 13 hours. Go me, being exciting, hahaha.

Today is Christmas and my best present is that I can ignore as much of it as I want to. The most celebratory things I have done so far today are 1) with J, watch and laugh as animated reindeer dance to "Never Gonna Give You Up" and 2) attend Shabbat candle-lighting. My next best present is that WD sent me a beautiful translation of the Odyssey. I should go open my other presents and cards, and write a list here and all that good stuff.

I should write something beautiful and poetic and expansive to everyone, because I do love you all, but I'm still kind of groggy.

I'm glad you enjoyed your present. I watched Die Hard last night, since people seem to consider it a Christmas Movie these days. I think I maybe watched it on VHS in the early '90s or something.

There are huge advantages in having friends of other faiths as it brings a certain balance for those of us who find this festival hard work even as some sort of practising individual (and as a Quaker that's very 'some sort') :o). Our 'Jewish Christmas card' from our old friend, Carol, was a wonderful image of a jester sculpture. One might say how apt for these strange times!

Glad you had a good time and I hope the card arrived safely? It was one I thought you might appreciate!
