Again with the multiple versions. I'm so indecisive.

Yes, until I scrolled down to the second I thought the first displayed a femiform hunter.

It's interesting how different the stereotypes are around male and female hunters.

haha, I think it speaks more to my love of androgynous women ^^;;;

Generally people tend to draw men with smaller eyes and more angular jaws, but what is gender, after all?

in that case, draw the eyebrows thicker and closer to the eyes, in order to emphasize a more prominent brow ridge? Works for Matt Bomer and Oscar Isaac. For Mackie it's more about his cheekbones.

Gwydion's "Spring Strathspey"?!?!? "I want to be merrily courted in Spring!"Gwydion Penderwen was the first "Pagan bard" of the 20th century, and I'm very glad to know you are familiar with his work. I never met him, but his was the first recorded "officially Pagan" music (aside from a few tracks by Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac and The Incredible String Band). So the strange young man in the forest has made the maidenly maiden decide she doesn't want to be a maiden any longer :-)

The song titled "The Lady's Bransle" (that last word is pronounced "brawl", and it was the name of a dance) became one of my son's favorite lullabies when he was a baby - "Oh, She will bring the buds in the spring, and She will bring the flowers..." (yes, my choices of "lullabies" were highly eclectic). Gwydion was a pioneer, one of the heroes of modern Paganism. And one hell of a songwriter.

I envy you the research you'll have to do for that. Spending your time looking at videos, photographs, drawings, and paintings of good-looking young men... :-D

I think two; the huntress' position seems more dynamic and I like the vest detail.

I like the first one. The body pose (head tilt, arm position) seem less β€œcoaxing” in the first one and more just happily welcoming.

I, too, read that first one as a female hunter until I scrolled to the second one. Gendered terms for the unmarked case are so confusing.

I'm curious, do you do any volume blocking (idk the name in English, basically step 3 here)?

Really curious about the story behind these!

I remember having had a bit of trouble adding that step to my process back in Ye Olde Dayes but it is really very useful to me nowadays to block out shapes/volums/proportions etc. Then again I do quite a bit of searching on the paper because I usually don't have a cohesive or complete picture of what I want to draw and obviously everyone's different!

Anyway, I hope you try and that whether you keep using it or not you learn something about your process from it.
