back from surgery.
typing this without my eyes. plz excuse typos.
TL very kindly got me up and there. As I was doing surgical check in guess who walked by me and made a point of saying hi to me? E, aka the SIC, the bane of my existence back when I worked there. (!) I ran into a couple of other people I knew from when I worked there, too, all of whom were quite kind to me.
Anyway, step 1 was having th dermatofibrosarcoma removed. Dr Nguyen did that, cutting out a puck of me, but unfortunately it had spread its subcutaneous tendrils further the that, so she had to come back for a second carving session. That was... not precisely painful, they had numbed me pretty well, but still unpleasant.
One good discover-- if I apace the wound with a pillow to take the pressure I can lie on my back, though of course not yet on that side.
Then they sent me to the OR, where I met Dr. C/hatterjee who was efficient but not cold, an aa pile of others, including h anesthesiologists. And Mr. RedTed showed up though I had only asked him to come get me at the end! I found his presence e extremely comforting.
At the OR one moment I was breathing oxygen and the next I was coughing myself awake in post-surgical. So hey, I didn't experience the operation at all, which is exactly how it should go! But OW INTUBATION FUCKING HURTS. In addition to my sore throat I have a raw place behind my right bottom teeth where they regulator pushed at them. I am sore and unhappy.
Also I have a fucking wound back to drag after me for a fucking week. A WOU?NND VAC. aughhggh.
Anyway, Mr RedTed got my sorry ass home and Mr. roommates have been very kind and fed me a bit and humored my crankiness. I am going to drag Mr. Wound Vac into the powder room and the sleep some more.
I hope this is legible I wore one lens (as I have a spare right lens but no spare left) today but didn't put it back in after surgery because it's now dirty. am going to leave them out until I feel up to being up for a bit.
ow.
ETA: THAT'S A SPARE LEFT LENS.

Date: 2020-03-17 11:20 pm (UTC)Unfortunately my ability to do things to help is kind of limited through this weekend because I'm on call for work, but, if I can do anything within that restriction, please let me know.

Date: 2020-03-18 04:15 am (UTC)My spouse did something like that during a surgery that involved intubation. Went under anaesthesia singing and was singing when the anaesthesia wore off. I think it was the same song at both ends of the procedure. This was much to the doctor's amusement. Worried about vocal chord damage affecting singing ability much? Hee hee.

Date: 2020-03-20 02:56 am (UTC)Wound vac is a bit of a nuisance, but a week is not long, at least, and wound vacs do work amazingly well in helping wounds heal
Take care

Date: 2020-03-22 09:22 am (UTC)At least, looking on the bright side, as you said, you'd need it for a week or so...you do realize, some people have to lug this thing around with them for _months_? ;)
Be careful re: tubing, don't break it and don't trip.
*Hugs*

Date: 2020-03-22 06:42 pm (UTC)I cannot even IMAGINE being attached to this, and unable to shower, for months. auuuuuuuughghghgg. As soon as I get this off I'm going home and submerging myself in water!
(Thank you for advising me, seriously. :)
