minoanmiss: Modern art of Minoan woman fllipping over a bull (Bull-Dancer)

So, none of these are new.

[community profile] drawesome’s current challenge is Redraws, so I went through my files to find art to redraw, and realized I redraw things fairly frequently. I debated with myself whether it was self aggrandizing to post examples, and decided to do so.

These are based on a lovely poem by Wolf about a traveling boy who has a rainbow descend into his hair. This is the moment he meets his destined mate.

I keep trying to draw a girl with cities in her eyes, based on a mural I saw at the ICA (I should go there again someday but it’s hard to get to except by car.)

Cool seeing the differences between then and now, especially in the way you use colour and proportion. Interesting how your particular style seems to be lot stronger, more defined and comfortable (?) in the recent works. Also, to me there's a greater feel of interaction or connection between the persons portrayed, due to the slight changes you made in body language.

That is a cool challenge.

I love both versions of the bull-leaping in particular.

All of them, but especially the bull-leaping pictures, have a sense of motion. The people don't look posed, but caught in motion.

On the last picture, the Greek curls (curly Greek keys...) not being contained in their own frame makes the picture more immediate and alive, as though we're seeing through a window.

I haven't the froggiest idea what Star Wars has to do with your bull-leapers redraw.

Does it show that I'm not a movie-goer, nor even a TV watcher?
