This made me laugh, so I had to draw it. Beginning with a meme.

Remember this meme image?

Girl, distracted boyfriend, unhappy girlfriend

I admit, it amuses me. I especially like the images made in reference to it, as opposed to the versions which apply labels to this image.

So then I listened to/read this song by Shel Silverstein (lyrics to follow):

And I immediately saw this in my little head:

Then I had another listen and adjusted the color scheme:

And then I giggled immoderately.

When I was a lad in a fishin' town,

But the rest of her was a fish!

Swam to the clams and the whales.
How I miss her seaweed hair
And the silver shine of her scales.
But then her sister she swam by

But her bottom part was a girl.

I had no idea that song was Silverstein, so I got the joy of looking at your lovely art, thinking, "I have heard that punchline before!" and then rediscovering a song I have heard round campfires. Thank you for this little journey, it was great.

That's utterly hilarious, and pure Shel Silverstein. And I love your picture! The young man has the problem solved, except for having to kiss a fish :-) Anyway, the original mermaid served him shrimp and caviar, both of which are generally considered treif, so Mrs. Silverstein's little boy Sheldon should have known she was not the girl for him.
