I am so curious about this. A gentleman I was dating, who was otherwise all about consent, frequently sent me pictures of himself (though not a classic dick pic, just pictures with his dick out). But had a huge problem with my overuse of the eggplant emoji, which I use ironically a lot. He's the only guy who's ever done it to me, for which I am thankful, and while it was in the context of a relationship that was already sexual and I didn't mind exactly, I thought it was super weird, especially because his face was in them.

Conversely, one of my friends posed as a 17-year-old blond girl on Nazi forums (he is actually an adult Latino guy) and got an extensive collection of Nazi dick pics, which he was very proud of and I don't blame him.

I have a more bleak view, which is just touched on in the line about "disabling them": there's a population of guys who are on some level trying to reinforce a worldview where men use the threat of sexual violence to get their way.

Definitely. this article talks about a range of reasons, and that -- the bludgeoning threat -- is definitely in that range. I was mostly surprised there were other reasons than straightforward evocation of sexual violence.

Have you ever heard Rene Levine's filk song "Under His Coat ..."? It tells the story of a man walking around a ballroom gathering and pulling open his trench coat to various women. It is ttto Cat Faber's "Wings" and starts

The "thing" is a small sign on which is neatly printed "PLEASE SCREAM".

I'm just saying, having "voluptuous discards" at the top of the page with this post up seems like some deep symbolic statement about the dick pick itself. :p
