Art and fire combine in Gunpowder Art!

I told my big roommates that I would like to do this and neither had much reaction, so I guess they're okay with it. Now to get some wood panels, sponge brushes, and gunpowder!

Date: 2018-09-13 05:30 am (UTC)The neighbors will see you. They will make a panicked phone call to the fire department "YO SOMEONE IS SETTING SHIT ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT." Medford FD will show up, possibly with Medford PD as well. Your explanations that "But this is Art!" will be in vain. At best the FD will tell you to cut it out. At worst, the PD will write up an incident report on this that will get back to Medford's licensing officer. The LO may well consider this a damned irresponsible use of your LTC and revoke it. And there goes something like $250-$300 that you spent to get the darn thing. (Cost of a safety course + application fee)

Date: 2018-09-13 05:48 am (UTC)This is a really, really bad idea, at least in Massachusetts.

Date: 2018-09-13 05:52 am (UTC)I can't believe you took me seriously. OMG, I'm literally biting my pillow so I won't wake the household up. You really thought I was going to do this, in Massachusetts? I may be a pyro, and crazy, but I'm not a crazy pyro.
Heehehehehehee omg.

Date: 2018-09-13 05:57 am (UTC)This does create really pretty patterns of the kind you like. And it is, IMO, possible to do this safely. It's just that in a densely populated area, you're going to scare the shit out of people who aren't aware of what you're doing. If the Mythbusters were doing this, they'd be mixing "blur" with "blur" while cautioning you, "Don't try this at home. We're what you call 'experts.'" And possibly calling in their buddy from BATFE or the Alameda County Bomb Squad.

Date: 2018-09-14 05:50 pm (UTC)Now I'm picturing you picturing me doing this in the parking lot by the fountain while all the fire trucks in Medford come wailing up the street.

Date: 2018-09-13 09:10 am (UTC)Which means that if someone offers you the space to do it (for example, the use of a large well-ventilated concrete room and knowledgeable supervision), I’ll be really disappointed if you don’t take them up on it.
