Disney Princesses (and others) singing the songs in their native languages.

Interesting, and mostly beautifully done. I'm kind of pissed about the Pocahontas section (ALGONQUIN, people!), but the Moana section pulled me right in and I was so charmed by most of them. The ones in English were kind of.... unchanged whatsoever... but I'm still glad they were there because of which movies they came from. And The Jungle Book, Mulan, Brave, and Aladdin were among the AWESOME.

I may go through the channel to see some of the others, if they are a mostly well done as this one's segments.

Well, and the Scotts Gaelic was... definitely not Scotts Gaelic.

Still, interesting.

Well, the first song was in English, the second song was in Scotts Gaelic, but was in that in the original movie.

What it looks like they did was figure out the official language of the country where each film is set/kind of set and use clips of the localization for that country. so e.g. the German is German. But that means that anything set in what is now the USA, they just used English. And they apparently got confused with Frozen about whether it was supposed to be in Norway or Sweden. But still had some cool bits.

But yeah, it's weird that they didn't listen and go 'Yeah, see, that is English.'

Pocahontas, or Mrs Rebecca Rolfe (Matoaka to give her her proper name) is buried in the town of Gravesend a few miles from where I grew up.

sigh. I figured that they'd spliced together the official Disney localizations for each one and there probably aren't enough algonquin-language speakers for it to be worth it for Disney to do a version in that, so I thought it'd maybe be in Navajo or something .... but I guess it's just English. But it was at least fun to see the other ones. Part 1 has much the same, except with the addition of Zulu for Lion King.
