Let it Go

This is about fanfic and may not make sense outside of that context.

I just posted all my remaining MCU stories (and some others) in WIP Amnesty files, which means I'm giving up on ever finishing them.

Truth be told I should have done this a year ago after CA:CW came out and I realized it was no longer my fandom.

I'm still a reader (not least because dsudis is still writing, most marvelously, for this fandom) but I felt as if it were important to say publicly that people shouldn't expect any more fic from me, at least for the time being.

(Because I am allegedly an adult I am not going to go reply to everyone who flamed me on "House and Home" with "You know what? Tony Stark won. Team Iron wins. I'm out. Congratulations."

I wish I had a fandom. I wish I were writing. But I've been here before and I know another fandom will find me sometime. I hope, anyway.

I hope you'll find a nice stress-free fandom (if there is such a thing, I doubt..) that inspires you to write. Perhaps give smaller fandoms a try? (as a permanent resident of several Rarepair Hells this is a very selfish wish) Book fandoms, not-franchise films, not in vogue anymore-series.. there is life outside the blockbusters :)

Seconded. I've found tiny fandoms so much nicer. Overall better quality fic, too.

Makes sense...and, if you ever get inspired at some later point, surely you can pick up these stories again :)

*hug* I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel welcome anymore in a place that used to feel like home; that truly sucks.

I continue to write for a 50-year-old series because a character in it speaks to me. I'll never be in the mainstream of this fandom, because most people want Kirk/Spock porn, and I think the guys love one another deeply but fraternally.

But that's okay! Lots of people tell me that my stories would be better if there were kissing at the end, but lots of people tell me that they value deep character insight and all the thinking and research I do. You don't have to write what everybody wants to be valued, and you don't have to be where the largest crowds are to have an audience.

I find myself in the same spot, fandom-wise, and this is going to be my mantra.

I hope you find what you're looking for, and what you need - and a fandom and writing opportunity along the way, if they're not the actual goal.

ETA: to be clear, I'm not suggesting that a fandom and writing opportunity are bad things to wish for, or that they aren't what you are truly looking for and need.

I just realized as I was about to respond, I wanted to wish for *more* for you. So I made a bigger wish/hope. "May you find what you mentioned - and more, if needed."
