Art Post: Help Me Decide?

So I drew an angry angel. And then I could not decide on a background. So I put it on four. Please help me pick which version to submit.

It's funny what a difference the background makes. To me, the blue and black backgrounds seem to tell a story of a non-particular angel who got beaten up, whereas because of Associations with red, the blue-to-red ombre seems to imply a Particular angel who Fell there, and maybe the red-to-blue ombre does too.

Or I'm hallucinating, idk.

Background 2 seems to me to be too pretty to go with anger. Background 3 seems more like despair than anger. I like #1 and #4 reasonably well; I'd like to see what an all-red background might be like, since red is associated with anger in our society.

I really like your analysis. :) Maybe I can find an ombre that's shades of red (I like the dynamic nature of these ombre backgrounds)

The top one highlights the angel as image, and the bottom one suggests more emotional interpretation. The other two don't quite work with the concept, although they're pretty.

1 is the most grounded. 4 is the most emotive.

I don't seem to read any of them as angry -- I'm notoriously bad at decoding body language. But I think the last one works best for me.

Looking at it I think the bruised corner of the mouth looks upturned and the down tilted eyebrows are too light. I'm going to fix those.

I would go with one or three, but... angry? That isn't what I would guess the angel is mostly feeling. Although I suppose if I had been beaten up as badly (or fallen as hard) as that angel then I would indeed be angry.

Assuming what are on the ground in the lower right corner are the remains of the angel's halo, that's a really nice touch!

Yep, that's a busted-up halo. :)

As I said to mldbear, I think the bruised corner of the mouth looks upturned and the down tilted eyebrows are too light. I'm going to fix those before submitting this, so the angel looks less hopeful and more "about to get up and kick the asses of those responsible".

I like the gray/black one, as it looks to be about a Fall, and that the angel’s now crawling to the darkside! :)

I like 3 best because of the light effect and that the focus seems more on the angel, not on the background.

I'm with mandelbear about the appearance of anger (or not). And I found that I was reading the background for an impression of the cause of the anger/whatever. I like 4 best.

I think the bruise messed up the line of the frown. I'm going to fix that.

#4 seems to be leading, closely trailed by $3.

I like 3. I like to imagine the exhausted angel either at the End of All Things, or possibly at the New Beginning of All Things.
