I love this, because -- there's a particular genre of art that is defined as The Highest Art, and which it is often assumed doesn't/can't include Black people except maybe as occasional objects. What better way to refute that assumption than putting us right in there? Looking right at the viewer in many of the works, displaying bright eyed sentience!

Plus, I love the concept of using art to comment upon art.

Because I'm me, I must add this observation while acknowledging its irrelevance: Ms. Rosales is ravishingly beautiful. Which is orthogonal to her talent and intelligence, I know, but omg look at her. And then look at her amazing art.

And yes, it makes MUCH more sense to imagine God or Eve as Black. When the human race began, we were ALL Black. If you go literally by the Bible (which of course I don't, but then I don't believe in gods at all), if God created humans in His or Her image, then God would pretty much HAVE to be Black.

(Of course, my personal god is a Vulcan. :-D)
