Today was exhausting and in the morning I will really appreciate something o bolster me.

Today J's parents came over, fresh off the plane from Singapore, and they got time with J and Kit and time to nap on our couch, and then we all had barbecue for dinner. Hiroshi looked at some of the things we'd looted from his mother's apartment in Japan, and told us about where they came from and how they would be used. Glory told funny stories about saving scraps of food for her neighbor's dog, and offered to take me shopping for jewelry for my birthday. At one point I went off to floss barbecue out of my teeth and thought about how lucky I am that it was in no way an excuse to flee the group—I genuinely love my in-laws and it was wonderful to have time to really talk with them.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary (a day late, because of his work schedule) by seeing Black Panther for the second time, then having dinner in one of New Jersey's remaining 24-hour diners. Not the world's most exciting date, perhaps, but we haven't had many occasions like this recently, especially since I got sick. But a subsidiary piece of good news was that I was able to eat most of a normal meal!

Hey, a good date is one the people involved enjoy, and that sounds enjoyable and enjoyed. And hooray for eating! Can I send you anything tasty?

There's a thing that I'm going to apply for that's an exciting thing. It's a union gig, curriculum writing, with travel, that falls squarely into the intersection of a bunch of my interests.

I feel like between applying for that, the election, and a mega-registration at work, I'll probably not sleep for the rest of the week, but I'm excited about the thought of even getting to do this.

My brother's baby tasted pear for the first time last week. Though he really went wild for cucumber :'D My local shop got a fresh orange juice squeezer machine and I just bought strawberries. Mmm, fruit.

I made a request for my local library, and they let me know that they're ordering a copy of the New World scifi anthology comic, yay! Also by the same publisher is Letters for Lucardo, which will get a volume 2 later this year. Yay for comics of space, romance and smut! xD

The football World Cup is starting next week (omg), and even it's a giant can of corrupt worms, it's still the biggest sports event in the world and it brings people together. Team Brazil being cute and cuddly

Family goodness

I get to see my grandniece (now two months old; between schedule mismatches and mom's being ill, possible meetups have not happened until now) in person for the first time Friday. And finally give her and her mom the baby blanket I knitted for them.
