The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of three tomato sauces sold at Big Y stores for a possible health risk. The sauces were manufactured by First and Last Bakery, LLC, and have the possibility of containing clostridium botulinum toxin, which can lead to botulism.


These were sold in CT and MA with a useby date of Sept 2026. Much more info at the links.

The sad thing is that between the food safety reductions that Republicans sneaked into the shutdown-end vote and the gutting of the FDA inspectors, this kind of thing is only going to increase.

I’m so sad about the botulism in infant formula right now (ByHeart brand specifically); there’s nearly two dozen babies hospitalized across the US already and that number will rise over the next while. (It can take up to 30 days for a case of botulism to be symptomatic.)

I think AllRecipes and some other places have taken it upon themselves to work harder to get the word out, but ugh, they shouldn't have to.

Those poor little babies and their distraught caretakers. Ugh.
