I received that Amber Alert in late September, and the narrative was such a perfect over-the-top MAGA wet nightmare that it aroused my suspicions: four marauding Latinos in hoodies and ski masks (in Florida with daytime heat indices in three figures?), in an unmarked white van, up and snatching a near-adult abled White Anglo youth off the street for no particular reason, and shooting him non-lethally for no particular reason?

I would really like Speight’s community service to include personal face-to-face apologies(1) not only to law enforcement whose time and effort he wasted but to any brown people who may have gotten caught up in the Looney Toons dustcloud of baying hounds once THE GAME WAS AFOOT!
