I have no idea whether the Obama family personally like watermelon, but I couldn’t help but notice its conspicuous absence from the White House produce garden during her stint as First Lady.
(And no, all the Jimmy Carter peanut jokes weren’t even remotely equivalent, there being no history of peanut imagery as a tool in the systematic debasement of White Americans. Also, Carter did in fact personally farm peanuts.)
The one thing I’ve found stabilizing is that this isn’t, in fact, some new and horrible thing; this is the same shit on a different day. People believed this stuff just as readily before they had faked AI “evidence”; we didn’t have AI back in the 80s but people were still just as ready to believe in “welfare queens” based solely on talk, and there was enough belief back then to cause a lot of harm, This is a new method of preying on people’s gullibility and bigotry, but we’ve always had that and it was successful back then too.
So the only real change is that the methods have gotten a little bit more fancy, but it’s not a new threat, and nothing has really changed. It’s not like people used to disbelieve this stuff and now that there’s video “evidence” they believe it.
Being not on social media (other than this), I had no idea about the videos. I wish I were surprised about that or about why Michelle Obama didn't feel she could wear her favorite hairstyle.
Also, I have no idea why, but your msn links never go anywhere useful when I click on them. I have to search the title and go somewhere else to see them. No idea why MSN refuses to work for me, but at least I can find the stories other places.
