WD took me to see Deadpool 2 and we had a lovely romantic night of it. I really do adore those movies; they are full of love, romance, found family, hilarity, and lots and lots of bloody violence. All this AND an adorable lesbian couple and delightfully overt pansexuality from Deadpool. Just about perfect for me and quite well done generally.

SO, Vanessa is given a pretty classic 'Fridging. I was willing to give them a chance, though, especially since the opening credits heavily lampshades that They Just Killed Vanessa WHAT THE HELL. I suppose I should be annoyed by her appearing to Wade in visions, but I am a romantic at heart and found those scenes sweet. And I was utterly delighted that as soon as he could Wade gave Cable a blowjob, settled him down for a nap, and stole Cable's time machine to go undo her death (and commit some other glorious mayhem.

As I said to a friend, if we MUST use that trope, I think they did a good job with it.

I could go on and on about details and features I liked, but I think I'm going to go see it again first. ALSO -- although there is no post-credits scene there is a mid-credits scene, AND it's worth staying till the end of the credits for a particularly striking choral piece which makes me wish I were still in a choir so I could obtain the sheet music and suggest it for performance.

All in all, though it wasn't quite as bounce-a-quarter-off-that-ass tight as the first movie, it was a worthy sequel, I want to propose to Domino, and I'm definitely seeing it again.

Maximum Effort!

Man, there's a sequel already? Seems only yesterday the last movie was coming out! But I'm glad they're good.

I adored Domino. I would have liked a slightly less frenetic pacing. Sometimes I needed more time to process the humor.

Okay, another movie I'll have to see if I can get to see in the theaters. I wonder if they'll have Deadpool, Black Panther, and the Avengers in the same theater with appropriate showtimes (including a meal break somewhere in there!)

I just got back from this and it was, as expected, very grossly violent but also very sweet! Julian Dennison as the teenage Firefist (...that is an unfortunate name) was amazing. Loved him in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, def recommend that to everyone. A bit similar role but with less cgi smackdowns!

Negasonic and her gf were cute (what about the shock-dye Asian girl trope though..), finally some textual queerness in a comic book movie! Do love how Wade is very handsy and wooing on his super pals, that romantic Colossus arrival, ah!

Stayed till the end of the credits, it was worth it for the music xD

(Adding to that list the SPOILER lesbian love interest in raunch-com Blockers had a silver dyejob. She was a cosplayer though and wore her LotR elf cape to the prom, but still)

I like how Deadpool is 4th wall breaking and genre-savvy, but in the end it's only in a very mainstream Hollywood dude way. Looking at that list, there could have been a Wade quip about quirky hair streaks (and fridging but that's a whole another convo) in Marvel movies, there's three on that list already!

I waited to read this until after seeing the movie this past weekend.

YAY! DP2 was pretty awesome. I am glad you liked it. And the choral rendition at the end was beauteous. I kinda loved Negasonic getting a girl friend.. and also I feel like she grew up a tiny bit. Which I also enjoyed. I loved how DP would make a heart with his hands everytime he said hi to Yukio. I like Wade breaking 4th wall and I *loved* Domino. I want more Domino all the time. She was pretty freaking awesome.
