Let the Jobhunt Recommmence

[I haven't set up crossposting but this is important so it goes in both places. ]


I got my Final Written Warning about my attendance today. Wah wah wah. I
don't know if yesterday's absence is included (it was mostly about last
month's debacle plus a day I got to work really late) or If I get to get
fired for yesterday in a couple of weeks. (HR seems to move on a a 3 week lag.)

I should be more upset, but really, I have cried so fucking much over this job. Tears never do any good.

Now is a good time to jobhunt, I guess, as long as I can keep my spirits
up and self-promotey. I'm a bit on the outs with fandom right now so I'm
not writing very much, so I won't be thinking "I could be writing" as I
apply. And/or I will procrastiwrite lots of beautiful stories! The weather is on the upswing -- it's a lot easer to traipse all over Boston looking for a job when one doesn't have to deal with coat and boots.

So. I'll miss the commute and most of the people, but this job regularly
puts me through the wringer and I won't miss that. And I already have an
answer for my Attendance Issues which is that due to the schedule and the
inflexibility, anytime I needed even an hour I had to take the whole day.
I mean, that's the truth.

Maybe if I get fired proper I can be useful around the house for a couple
of months. OTOH, I would rather not be fired for a quadrillion reasons,
so. Time to buckle up and start intensively johbhunting.

Well, the very first thing to do after you get the official notice is to file for unemployment. After that, take at least a couple of days when you don't do anything job-related, not even reading the want ads; rest, eat, relax, cook, write, let your body re-establish its natural circadian rhythm, interact with your household, and generally wash the old job away (possibly literally). THEN you can re-start the job search.

Job hunting is draining as well, so please plan lots of self-care while you do it. I know TL understands that it is a job in itself to find a new one. *hugs* best of luck. A unit clerk job gives you lots of skills, you'll find the right one.

I found my current job either on LinkedIn or Indeed. I lost track of which.
