It's probably bad for my immortal soul to snark at Trump voters experiencing buyer's remorse but, well, fuck 'em. They voted for the leopards to eat my face and the faces of many people I love, like, and am related to. Let them live with the chew marks on their own chins and cheeks. You see that sweet little old lady described in the last essay? She and the writer voted in hope that her Latina equivalent would be deported wearing heavy chains that tore her aged skin and her Black equivalent would lose everything and "stop being a burden on society". So. Let her worry and let him realize. They chose this.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. After his first term it should have been obvious to all and sundry what they were voting for. It was impossible to dismiss his public statements as hyperbole or say "He doesn't really mean that." They knowingly voted for this and should be unsurprised when they get it.

I have no sympathy. I have lots of sympathy for Gazans sorting through the rubble of their homes and praying that the next bomb doesn't obliterate them. I have lots of sympathy for moms in Sudan holding their dying children because they've now run out of retrovirals. I have lots of sympathy for women bleeding out in parking lots because doctors are too afraid to get charged for doing a D&C on their stillborn fetuses. I give exactly zero shits about people who "voted for Trump but didn't vote for this."

Yep. I have oodles of empathy. It’s just that I spend that empathy on people who actually deserve it.

I don't even know that the hoodwinked don't deserve it. They are going to suffer a lot. It's just that they're so down on the list, below all the innocent people their votes have killed, below all the Americans who knew better, that they barely register.
