I think I'm in love with this woman.

This video made me think of many things: how we as humans seem to enjoy watching other humans do things we'd like to do [1]; the deliciousness of bone marrow; how elegantly she eats; how yummy bone marrow is; how much i hope she shows us the baby's first taste of bone marrow; omg hungry.

[1] I know that in Western Culture [tm] a lot of our norms get called human universals but from what I've seen of various cultures people watch each other wherever and whoever we are.

I've never had marrow, but now I am curious about it. We shall see.

It's not entirely fat, in ways which make it even better. It has just enouch protein to give it a gelatinous, satisfying texture -- it melts on the tongue a little more slowly than equivalent butter would. And it tastes like all the yummiest aspects of beef. It's sooooooooooooooooo good. One of the many reasons that shank is my favorite cut of stewing beef is the nugget of marrow that it comes with. As an only child I save that nugget for last. If I'd had siblings I would eat it first.

I love watching videos of people making things and gardening. I tell myself it's so I can learn to do these things well, but 90% of it is probably just the enjoyment of watching people do cool things. I also really like music reaction videos - I like seeing people fall in love with music that I love.

Oh oh oh how I miss the beautiful marrow bones I used to get when I was buying a quarter cow from the local ranch.

And I miss the discount groceries, skewing towards Black, Latin, and Appalachian customer bases, that I had access to in Dayton; there I found not only cheap marrow bones and shank but things like chicken and turkey backs, necks, and tails-—as well as beef and pork liver, kidney, and heart and, once in a blue moon, the likes of sweetbreads and Rocky Mountain Oysters.

There having been a white Anglo mom-and-pop grocery three blocks from our house and a Kroger on her way home from work, my mother very much did not, and so for me such foods represented adult agency and discovery.

I know what you mean -- Asian markets represent that for me, that sense of "I can make my own choices now and choose to explore these cultures". Especially raw fish dishes. Fish is served every which way except raw in Jamaica, because it's a tropical country.

I’ve been watching hoof care videos on YouTube, and experiencing the weird compartmentalized dissonance of sympathizing with the cows having their foot wounds treated and craving bony beef offal.

Oh man the hoof treatment videos. The same satisfaction as pimple popping. But/and I can totally see wanting some nice shank after watching those.
