oh i'm so unreasonably upset

I made chicken soup for a friend overnight. Just now I took it out of the oven, gave it its final seasoning, put it in a nice container, labeled it, and went to put it into the fridge--

-- and dropped it. The container turned over in midair and the lid came off and allllllll the soup gushed out.

I cleaned up the solids and broth while hollering for help. RK came and hugged me and consoled me and offered to wash the grease off the floor. I need to Get Dressed and Finish My Workday and Go To My Appointment. And I have no soup to give to my friend.

I hate when stuff like that happens and it's almost like you can see it happening in slow motion but you still can't stop it!

And in a very weird follow-up: yesterday I made soup (with foraged mushrooms, yum), and the leftovers were in the fridge. Just now I opened the fridge door, and the handle of the pot somehow was snagged on something in the door, and the contents of the pot spilled all over the floor.

I was frustrated but also almost laughed, because it was so similar to what had happened to you (... though not with the added sadness of the soup having been made for a friend--and at least we'd gotten one crack at it last night!)
