1) What's your second favorite color?
Silver/platinum. I love its cool gleam. Unfortunately I'm not dark enough for silver to look really good on me.
2) After the Minoans, what's your next favorite Bronze Age culture?
The Egyptians. I adore them in their color and verve. They're a little grandiose for my tastes sometimes but if I had to be dropped into the Ancient Mediterranean I would go there first to call myself the Queen of Punt and acquire an entourage so I could go to Knossos in style.
3) DW Potluck Dinner: Which, say, 5 people would you invite, and what
would you hope they bring?
OMG this is Eris tossing the Golden Apple! *cackle* I want everyone who replied to my Culinary Questions Post to come and bring one of their favorite dishes.
4) Did you apply to places other than Harvard, or was that an early
decision thing?
I applied to a pile of places. Entertainingly besides Harvard and Brown I don't recall anymore where I applied. Doubtless Columbia and Fordham so I could live with my parents while going to college (noooooo). I do remember the day they read out in the dining hall that I was admitted to a half dozen colleges. I was pretty pleased with that.
5) Are there places you miss in NY? What were they like?
I miss the museums, of course, but I also just miss riding a bus and looking at all the people on the sidewaalks streaming by. I miss the energy, even though I couldn't match it anymore these days, hahaha.

"I applied to a pile of places..."
Me toooo. And yikes on the dining hall reading, in a general sense, but I'm glad it gave you a warm fuzzy!
"...I couldn't match it anymore these days,"
God, me neither. Yeesh.
If you're of a mood and have the inclination, can I have a few q's? I'm perfectly fine if it's Not Your Thing at the moment, though.

3) Please tell me about one of your favorite authors.

Date: 2024-11-30 07:31 pm (UTC)I wanted to go to MIT, but my math grades weren't good enough. Also, in 1964, MIT only admitted ten women freshman each year, so I just didn't come close.
I love people-watching in the city - as I've described, waiting outside Langone Hospital on First Avenue while my husband gets the car back from the parking garage, and seeing all the colorful people . I love the skyline, and the marvelously diversity (infinite diversity in infinite combinations!), and the fact that you can find almost anything a human being could want somewhere in the city (Tibetan restaurants. Foreign language bookstores. Sari stores. Broadway. There's an annual Native American powwow in Queens.) The energy eventually brings me up to its level.
