That's awfully close to lesbian erotica for a commercial popular song. But it's very evocative.

American culture includes this idea that a sexual or romantic crush is the ONLY PERSON YOU CAN EVER LOVE, and that obssession with one individual is the most perfect form of passion. All the medieval romances - Tristan and Isolde, Romeo and Juliet, etc - are about someone obsessing over someone they can't get, and dying tragically for love. That's a very unhealthy relationship. And it can turn controlling and manipulative very easily.
