If I can't summon up my own creativity I might as well adorn my wee corner of the Interwebs with other people's

I listened to this about eight times in a row last night. I especially love the set dressing/encouragement to the choir (you'll know him when you see him).

I just heard it the other night! It was deeply charming and reminded me of the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

This TikTok by thisaintjay sets Mundane-Made-Awesome hyperbole to “The Ecstasy of Gold”, to masterful dramatic/comedic effect:

Seeing “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” performed live sheds light on why the song’s so bloody difficult to whistle solo: the whistles and eagle and coyote noises are in fact coming from different musical instruments as well as a human voice. (Fun Fact: the three chief musical motifs, the coyote sound, human whistle, and gruff masculine chorus are intended to symbolize the three main characters, and bounce back and forth off one another like Angel Eyes, Blondie, and Tuco respectively.)

(I can use the opening flute/ocarina whistle to ping my 26-year-old nephew-of-sorts, if he’s within earshot: he’ll reliably reply with “Wah-WAH-Wah!”)

That is one of the all-time great theme tunes.

Isn’t it, though? It’s the musical distillation of the Mythic Wild West, with portrayed rather than literal coyotes and redtails and canyon echoes and cavalry charges and whips and gunshots.

Indeed. And to get that mythic quality, it probably had to be a non-American creating it.
