I felt like a techbane today. My laptop suddenly stopped talking to the router and my work connection was yoyoing.

RK and S ran updates on the laptop and got it working again (yay!) and suddenly my connection decided to stay up for more than 5 minutes at a time, but the deep annoyance when things would not work was a useful, humbling reminder.

One downside to a Windoze laptop is that you do need to work pretty actively at keeping it updated, for security reasons if nothing else.

I need to put reminders on my calendar for backups and updates now that I will not be living with a highly-tech-literate roommate.
