1. Bandanas, at least one at any given time: to wipe things or cushion fragile objects or as headgear against the elements.

2. A collapsible umbrella.

3. A charger and cable for my phone (wrapped in another designated bandana.)

4. Solar Shields in classic gray/black, in a vinyl sheath.

5. My handicapped parking pass.

(When I lived in Dayton: a comprehensive sheaf of current bus schedules, to consult and share should the need arise.)

I wear glasses, and I have a pair of Fitovers in my purse (Ever since I was in junior high school I have carried the largest purses I can get with plenty of extra compartments.

A small collapsible hand fan (I need to get more of them so I can give them away at need)

A thing that can charge my phone from a AA battery.

A Leatherman Juice multi-tool with a purple anodized shell and knives, pliers, scissors, wire strippers, screwdriver blades, a corkscrew,

A spare diaper.

Tissues.
Lip balm
A collapsible umbrella
A plastic kazoo
A set of runestones
A miniature Tarot deck
A pencil box with a variety of marking implements
And assortment of first aid supplies, including OTC medicines
A box of Altoids strong peppermint candies
The strong and beautifully designed case for my new prescription glasses

A butane lighter (you never know when you're going to need to set something on fire)
I also used to carry a book, but I don't have a new one.

I don’t let myself carry a purse or backpack for exactly this reason. If I can’t fit it in my pockets, it doesn’t travel with me. Which means I’m generally carrying: 1) my phone, which has an integrated case that holds 4 ID/payment cards; 2) my keys; 3) my little insulated case with Epipens, heart-rate monitor, and emergency inhaler.

One of the many pluses to using a wheelchair is my purse sits in my lap, not burdening shoulders or back. So I’ve always got lots of things.

Phone, iPad, AirPods, bus map, meds, eye drops, floss sticks, tissues, nose spray, lip balm, library card (and 9 other types of id), cash money, 911 info (meds, diagnoses, providers, insurance companies), N95 mask, paper notebook and pen because tech can always fail, and (most humbly) plastic bread bag to protect my joystick from the rain.

• often some quick protein snacks (jerky or beef sticks)
