I saw that these delightful citrusy dudes were in season so I ordered one. The box arrived tonight and apparently there is a whole hutch full of them. So, while I was feeling poorlly, RK brought this one up for me to see and smell and be cheered by.

In the morning I will count them so I can properly plan what to do with them. If you're in my Greater City Area feel free to drop me a line if you want one, whiel supplies last.

I had to explain "citron" to a friend from Paris, because that is the word he knows for lemon. He enjoyed the candy as well.

Conversely, native U.S. English speakers learning French find the existence of a French auto brand called Citroën hilarious, given that the word “lemon” is American slang for an inferior car.

I’m guessing the anime fanfiction term (1) came first, probably having something to do with the hentai series Cream Lemon (2), which debuted in 1984–predating both the shock site Lemonparty.org, whose first Wayback Machine capture (3) is on 11 October 2002, and the satirical political Lemon Party of Canada (4), active 1987-1998.

And then there’s lemonSparty.org, a charitable organization devoted to gifting fruit to chemo patients, and hoping to appeal to the better natures of people who took a wrong URL at Albuquerque. (5)
