I have been having an annoying day today [500 words of complaint removed by the Posting Fairies] and arrived at noon too annoyed to eat.
So I thought, "it's a lovely day, why don't I spend my lunch break voting?" I was originally going to go after work but whatever. My T pass is on walkabout anyway (see Annoying Day).
My Lyft driver took me on an alarmingly panoramic journey through Watertown and maybe a few alternate dimensions, and the voting location needs MORE SIGNAGE but actually voting wasn't difficult and now I can convince myself to IGNORE THE NEWS.
And my luck turned a bit! My driver home was one I got before, a delightful lady who told me about her son, and I ran into my neighbors when I got home! They had sparkly pumpkins to decorate the yard with and the little one gave me one of the pumpkins to choose a location for! I am utterly charmed.
Once more unto the breach, ahahhaahah. (it's taken me most of the hour to write this)

Date: 2024-10-23 12:24 am (UTC)This post caused me to check on my absentee ballot, and it was accepted on October 17 and will be counted. So.

Date: 2024-10-24 06:33 am (UTC)(Wednesday was my turn, and fortunately I had only to deliver my mail-in ballot to the early polling site, because the voting lines filled all the corridors; the preceding day they’d spiraled around the building.
This was a turnout I’d never encountered back in Dayton; I preferred in-person voting, but took care to arrive during working hours, between the morning, lunchtime, and evening rushes. My current community in Florida consists chiefly of retired seniors—the demographic who show up to the polls most reliably as both voters and volunteers, and who aren’t constrained by the time of day.)

Date: 2024-10-27 02:24 pm (UTC)I went to the library yesterday, and found it heartening that there was a line for early voting (the main library is one of the early polling places).
