An apology.

I am posting SO MUCH about current politics. I do apologize for that. I am a very pervious [1] person. I keep soaking up all this political stuff and depositing it in my journal. I fantasize about providing a Refuge Of Beauty From Current Awfulness but unfortunately I can't; you'll have to look to

asakiyume and

drawesome for that.

[1] "susceptible" is the appropriate word, I know.

I like posts of escape, but I like seeing what the people I follow are thinking and caring about, too. It helps me think about what conversations I should be a part of in my life, even if it doesn't show up much in my DW.

I don't see a need to apologize. This is your space to do with as you wish while following DW's rules.

I find the political conversations in your comments much more civilized than many other places.

Nothing to apologize for, dear friend! The political situation has never been this chaotic in my lifetime. The only time I can think of that was this bad was the Nixon administration. (or Reconstruction after the Civil War, which was before I was born).

I just thought to wonder:
I know that that prinkiness of "don't talk about religion or politics" has been etiquette-book-around for 130 years or so.

But outside the realm of etiquette and social aspiration, when did it begin to be considered vaguely disgraceful to talk about politics? Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, I thought it was a Sophisticated Grown-Up thing and it was part of why I was worried about failing to become an adequate adult.

P.S. I grossly overt the sophistication, analysis, and even seriousness, and entirely missed the fact that mostly people were just making conversation, with knitted brows, but that's beside the point.
