I'm glad that they specify particular denominations (why don't they mention conservative non-denom?), but that's a pretty subtle distinguisher.

I can say from personal experience pastoring in a mainline "liberal" denomination that it was an eternal and thorny pain in the butt that many parishioners and most potential parishioners-trying-us-out and the general community assumed that all Christianity is inherently composed of moralistic misogynistic G-d-botherers.

I cannot even imagine how utterly exhausting that must have been to deal with constantly.

Anecdotally, at least a few of them are doing liberal churches: my Episcopalian parish recently did several adult baptisms, including a pleasant young man in his late twenties, and the online class I'm taking through an Episcopalian seminary includes a few younger men who are new to the Episcopal church.

But I'd be willing to put some money on a not insignificant portion heading to MAGA-affiliated churches, too, or as one new church friend of mine called it, "the MAGA heresy".

Grrr that article makes the same mistake that much of the media, tbf, makes: the stats don't show significantly more loneliness among young men than young women.

And yeah they're 100% joining the conservative evangelical, Catholic, and Orthodox churches. I know I saw something - maybe linked from Slacktivist? - talking about how some older Catholic parishioners are finding their congregations much more conservative and all 'woo Latin mass, yay for no birth control' because of young converts. Dunno how common this is, though.
