I do hope not, but/and this rather worries me. I should probably chase down details: it's one thing if they are joining liberal churches and another if they are signing up for Evangelism.
Young American men are returning to the Church.

Date: 2024-10-16 07:14 pm (UTC)Yeah, I don't think you can just say "the Church" as if it were still 1300 in Western Europe. (It better not be.)

Date: 2024-10-16 08:39 pm (UTC)I'm glad that they specify particular denominations (why don't they mention conservative non-denom?), but that's a pretty subtle distinguisher.
I can say from personal experience pastoring in a mainline "liberal" denomination that it was an eternal and thorny pain in the butt that many parishioners and most potential parishioners-trying-us-out and the general community assumed that all Christianity is inherently composed of moralistic misogynistic G-d-botherers.

I cannot even imagine how utterly exhausting that must have been to deal with constantly.

I know I saw something - maybe linked from Slacktivist? - talking about how some older Catholic parishioners are finding their congregations much more conservative and all 'woo Latin mass, yay for no birth control' because of young converts. Dunno how common this is, though.
