It’s kind of hilarious that by tagging him with Tampon Tim, all they’re doing is giving him an opportunity to talk about that stuff. They think they’re harassing him but they’re actually handing him a platform.

It is hilarious. Am I over the top to say it's a real life example of the trope "evil cannot comprehend good"? They can't understand why a man wth power would be kind enough to make sure students who menstruate have supplies, so they fall back on "periods are icky and mockable".

I just had a thought about how transphobia is necessary to those kinds of folks because misogyny is even more important. If you have folks changing sex and being accepted, then misogyny itself begins to fall apart. How can you denigrate women for having periods, for example, if you accept that men have periods as well? You can’t. So you have to insist that any men having periods aren’t men, they’re women, and so icky periods (and by extension, the icky women that have them) are still viable targets for shaming.

Or maybe I’m way off. I’m too tired to really think it through properly. But it feels like there’s something here.

I think it's hilarious (and a positive sign) that the "Tampon Tim" thing has gotten Walz praise and he's adopted it as a badge of honor, while the whole "J.D. Vance fucked a couch" story turned Vance into a laughingstock.
