I can't see them not backing Harris, especially with Biden's endorsement. As an added bonus she's the only potential candidate who would have access to the very large Biden/Harris campaign warchest.

This is still the country where the liberals could not get it together to vote for a woman, and racism and misogynoir have gotten WORSE since then. It's now normal political speech for a political operative to call a recently deceased Black legislator a "ghetto bitch". I WANT SO MUCH to be wrong but I don't think enough liberals will be willing to vote for a Black woman. And right now I hate every single liberal who has given me this impression.

I adore AOC (SO MUCH -- she has spoken out about how the sausage is being made on this one, how Democratic Donors have pushed on their purchsed politicians to force Biden out) but 1) I want her career to be longer and 2) I hate to say it but Harris will need a White Dude, or mayyyyyyyybe can get away with a White lady, for the same reasons Obama chose Biden as his VP back in the day.

I would nominate Buttgieg, Republican third-grade-level jokes be damned, but if I have to hear That Kind Of Straight White Guy complaining he isn't "represented" for four months I may have to drown myself.

Keeping electability in mind, I think Kamala's running mate should be a white man from a swing state. NOT a New Yorker. Preferably not a senator: we need every senator to stay where they are. Maybe Josh Shapiro, the Governor of PA? Or the governor of KY? He sued the former governor of KY for ethics violations?

A friend on the Book of Faces pointed out that now it's a race between the prosecutor and the felon, which won't sway those who worship at the church of DJT, but might for other Rs. (Assuming Harris becomes the nominee, of course. Which I think fairly likely.)

This might be good. Dude was not in his correct mental state and Trump was wiping the floor with him. Harris isn't great but she can do the young, fresh energy thing and maybe win back the people who wouldn't vote for Biden because he keeps stroking out.

I have read some essays that make the case that what we saw was stuttering rather than stroking, not that it matters overmuch now. I also found out that Harris is not a transphobe, so I feel better. Now to see if enough people will rally behind a Black woman. As another I'm not so hopeful.

I have told my female conservative coworkers to imagine Hillary Clinton’s face when there is a woman president and it’s not her. It appeals to the petty-ass horizontal-aggression part of their brains, making them slightly less likely to vote for Trump. Anything I can think of to get R’s to sit this one out, I’m going to hold my nose and do.
