Interesting to see how other people's traditions clash with mine. I think of potlucks as being vegetarian! And veggie or meat, of it being important to bring food that "holds." Frittata, maybe, but not souffle. Not BLTs with cold toast and bacon that was cooked an hour ago. Two meat dishes out of ten! And two beverages! I think of bringing beverages as an alternative to bringing food. I wouldn't put it on a list of recipes; maybe in a paragraph about bringing lemonade or grapes even if you can't cook.
The farro salad and the fruit bars are absolutely potluck-typical, though, and that chicken dish seems like something I might try at home. I'd expect to see a few vegetables added to the noodles for pretty. And if the cake were in a rectangular pan for easier transport and sharing, it would also be good at a potluck.
Some of those are straight out of the neighborhood housewives having lunch together - ladies' magazines recipes like "candle salad" and Swedish meatballs. I guess American women have a subtle subculture of stuff like this - luncheon recipes, household hints, over-the-back-fence advice. It can show up in anything from a church picnic to a low-budget con. I skipped over this phase by not having any women friends.
My go-to is an arugula salad, because even if nobody else eats it I WILL, and also because delicious veggies are often neglected at these things.
I always saw the main motivation behind a potluck as financial, though: feeding a party is expensive! But if everyone brings a little, it's easier, cheaper, and often less clean-up.
