I just watched the clock change over, and grooooooooaned.
As a wise person (who may self-identify if desired) just reminded me, this is like trying to make a string longer by cutting off a piece and typing it to the other end.
And now, the week of sleep deprivation. Woot woot.
At least Wolf and I agree on something!

Date: 2018-03-11 11:00 am (UTC)It's not only pointless, it's actually dangerous. Schoolchildren walk, or wait for buses, along dark streets, as half-awake drivers whiz past them during morning rush hour. Those same half-awake commuters get into more accidents. And the sudden changes imposed on circadian rhythms also increase the likelihood of heart attacks, strokes, depression, cognitive impairment, and other effects of sleep disturbance. Computer-controlled processes may not always adapt correctly to the change in clock time either, causing industrial accidents, errors in medical procedures, and bureaucratic disruptions.
Imagine how much worse it's going to be when humans explore other planets, with rotational, orbital, and seasonal periods that can't be made commensurate with Earth's cycles at all: "Hi, Parkes, it's 31 o'clock, Sneezyday, the 43rd of Boudica... "(20 minute pause) "G'day, Muskville, it's 11:47 PM, Tuesday, July 29th..."
