WD took me to Summer Shack for fishly delights. We snarked at the music choices while I ate bite-size organisms and drank riesling wine, woot woot.
Every time I have oysters and clams on the half shell I am struck by what intense savory experiences they are. Oysters are so soft and almost fluid, not much more than rich sea flavor, while clams are burly and meatily chewable. And mussels are in the middle (though i've never had a raw mussel). They go so well with flinty sips of crisp clean riesling.
And WD wanted me to have this experience once again, so he took me to dinner. BWEE.

Date: 2024-01-04 06:46 am (UTC)As you might imagine, fish available here is lovely. But it never occurred to me to put an oyster knife in short-term packing!
You know, when Chun Woo was a toddler he elected to eat an oyster on the half shell whenever we got oysters, though the first five or six times he didn’t like them. And then he did. Very much. It’s almost enough to cause me to see sense in “developing a taste.”

Date: 2024-01-06 09:16 am (UTC)I looove mussels. When I was a kid we went to France on holiday for several years, and moules-frites was a major part of it.
