Learning things is alway useful. You never know what bit of information, what obscure skill, will come in handy someday. Besides, learning stuff is fun.

I have been more and more bothered, over the past decade, to find a lot of my acquaintances fossilized or fossilizing, to object to embracing any newness, sometimes quite explicitly, and to realize how many of them there are and how defensive they are.

But there's us, too.

Excellent advice! I would submit that making things is similarly uplifting and inexhaustible. Make art, make food, make stories. Woodworking, coding, composing, choreography and the like aren't your particular loves (as far as I know) but do help others create. And anytime you need something new to learn, you can learn one of those and thus have even more ways to make things. :-)
